All large envelopes and packages will be opened by the customs official and a “duty” will be levied before the package can be picked up. Your son will be required to pay the “duty” on the contents of the package or envelope. Duty in Ghana is substantial, especially on electronic items and CD’s. We have found that the flat rate envelope that mails for $16.95 from the USA usually gets through with no duty. It would be a good idea to reinforce the envelope with tape as they do arrive torn occasionally.
